Jariffa S.A supports a recently created NGO called “Asociación Protejamos Yaxhá” (APY) created to help in the protection and apropiate management of Yaxhá-Nakúm-Naranjo National Park.

As a first step APY made an agreement with Jariffa S.A to build a Biological Research Station in Yaxhá Private Natural Reserve.

The National Environmental Trust (FONACON) supports the project matching funds provided by Jariffa S.A for the construction of the Research Station.

Recently, The Guatemalan Environmental Trust (FOGUAMA) also matched funds with APY to provide solar power, running water and radio communications to the Research Station.

Proposals have been submitted to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) and to the Netherlands Government for the study and protection of Migratory birds and wetlands management in the Private Reserve and the National Park.
